Influence of Goat Serum on the Growth of Ureaplasma urealyticum

Abstract
An influence of goat serum on the pH and growth curve of Ureaplasma urealrticum in the 10-B media was compared with that of horse serum.
The results were summarized as follows.
1. In the 10-B media containing 20 per cent goat serum, logarithmic phase (6. 0x10©þ/ml) of U.urealrticum was observed 4 hours after inoculation, and death phase was observed gradually 6hours after.
2. In the 10-B media containing 20 per cent horse serum, logarithmic groT¡¤th phase(1.0x10 to 2.1¡¿10"/ml) of U. urealyticum was obsevred 4 to 8 hours after inoculation, maximum stationaryphase (2.1x10" to 1.5x10"/ml) was appeared after 8 to 6 hours, and death phase was observed after 16 hours rapidly.
3. The pH changes of the 10-B media containing 20 per cent goat serum due to growth of U.urealyticum was not observed and differences compared with that of horse serum media.
Above results suggested that goat serum was unsuitable to the preparation of 10-B medium for U. urealyticum.
